These terms cover your use of localmoney.org, whether you are a resident checking in at a local business or a business running an Earn Spot. Please read the section on what Localmoney is and is not — it matters.
Localmoney is operated by BMC SAASY TECH LTD (company number 12454158; registered office Flat 338, 372 Old Street, London, EC1V 9LT). By using the service you agree to these terms.
Localmoney rewards you for spending real time at independent local businesses. When you check in at an Earn Spot and stay a while, you unlock a period of free access to your Localmoney agent — software that runs on your own computer.
What you earn is access to software, for a set number of hours. It is not cash, not a voucher, not a token, and not a financial product.
Localmoney is not a bank, broker, exchange, payment service or investment firm, and is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We do not provide financial, investment or tax advice.
Localmoney never holds, receives or transmits your money. An unlock grants access to data-intelligence software; any activity you then choose to undertake happens under your own control, in your own wallet. We make no promise of any return, yield or profit, and nothing on this site should be read as one.
Check-in requires your device to share its location so we can confirm you are inside the business. If you decline that permission, or your device cannot get a reliable fix, you will not be able to check in. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what happens to that data — in short, we verify and discard.
You agree not to falsify your location or otherwise attempt to earn an unlock without genuinely being at the business — by spoofing GPS, automating check-ins, or using someone else's device. Doing so may end your access without notice. Geofences are drawn to allow for normal GPS error, so an occasional refusal indoors is not a fault: move nearer a window or try again.
Unlock length depends on how long you stay, per the rules each business sets. Unlocks are personal to you, cannot be transferred or sold, and expire at the stated time. Each Earn Spot has a limited number of concurrent unlocks; when it is full you may need to try again later. Reward Unlocks handed out at a business's discretion are capped at 24 hours.
To activate an agent you will need a Localmoney account. Unlocking does not create one automatically — if you are new, you will be prompted to sign up first.
Running an Earn Spot is a monthly subscription, billed via Stripe. Your spot goes live once payment completes and stays live until the end of the period you have paid for; you can cancel at any time and are not charged again. Prices are as shown when you sign up and include UK VAT where applicable. Because your spot goes live immediately, at checkout you expressly consent to immediate supply and acknowledge that you lose any 14-day right to cancel once supply begins; the current period is not refunded. Full details, including our right to suspend or withdraw the service, are in our Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
You are responsible for placing your geofence honestly — over the premises you actually operate, not a wider area. You must not use Localmoney to imply any endorsement, authorisation or financial promotion, and you must not tell customers they will earn money by visiting. You can pause or adjust your spot at any time.
Businesses receive aggregate visit information only. You will never receive customers' identities or locations.
Some Earn Spots are added by us rather than by the business. We do this using information that is already publicly available — a business's name, its trading address and the fact that it is open to the public — to show where a spot is. These listings are marked Added by Localmoney on the site.
No affiliation, partnership or endorsement. A business listed this way is not a partner, sponsor, agent or affiliate of Localmoney, and nothing on this site should be read as that business endorsing, sponsoring or approving Localmoney, our services, or anything you do with them. We list them because we rate them. They have not agreed to anything, and they have no obligations to us or to you under these terms.
No fee and no obligation. An unclaimed listing is free. No charge has ever attached to one and none ever will. The business owes us nothing, and we owe the business nothing beyond what this section says.
The business is not responsible for your visit or your money. Unlocked hours are hours of software. A listed business does not provide them, does not hold or handle anyone's money, and has no involvement in what your own agent does on your own machine. That is true of every Earn Spot, and it is true whether the business claimed its listing or not.
Claiming or removing a listing. If you own or manage a listed business you can claim the listing and take control of it, or ask us to remove it, at localmoney.org/claim. You do not need to give a reason and we will not ask for one. We will remove a listing within 5 working days of a request from the business or someone authorised to act for it. Where we can do it sooner we will. Removal is free, and removing a listing does not stop you claiming one again later.
Names and trade marks. Business names, trading names and logos belong to the businesses that own them. We use a business's name only to identify a place, in the ordinary descriptive way a listing or a map does. That use is not a claim of ownership, not a claim of any right in the name, and not a claim of association. If you own a name and want us to stop using it, tell us and we will remove the listing on the timescale above. "Localmoney" and the Localmoney marks are ours.
Accuracy. We take reasonable care that a listing's details are right, and details change. If something about your business is wrong on our site, tell us and we will correct or remove it.
Your Localmoney agent interacts with public blockchains and third-party protocols. Those carry real risk, including the risk of losing money. Past performance says nothing about the future. Localmoney does not guarantee any outcome, and the free access we grant is not a recommendation to use it. The agent software has its own separate licence terms, which you accept when you install it; read them before you commit any funds.
We aim to keep Localmoney running but cannot promise uninterrupted service. Earn Spots may be added, paused or removed — including businesses closing or leaving the scheme — and check-in depends on your device, your connection, and satellite coverage where you are standing.
Localmoney is provided as is, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will be error-free or that any particular check-in will succeed.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit, or for any losses arising from your use of software accessed through an unlock. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, for residents, is nil.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when. Material changes will be signalled on the site. Continuing to use Localmoney after a change means you accept it.
