We set no tracking cookies, run no advertising, and do not follow you to other websites. We measure how many people visit, using a tool that stores nothing on your device and cannot identify you. If you would rather we did not count your visit at all, you can turn it off — see your choices below.
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to remember — like a cloakroom ticket, so the site recognises you when you return or move between pages. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are “first-party”; those set by other companies through that site are “third-party”. We set no third-party cookies at all, and no cookies of our own for visitors.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages people read and roughly where in the world they came from. It is deliberately chosen because it is cookieless: it writes nothing to your device, assigns you no identifier, and builds no profile. Visits are counted in aggregate — we can see that a page was read a hundred times, never that you in particular read it.
Because nothing is stored on your device and no one is identified, this needs no cookie banner under UK and EU rules. We would rather tell you about it plainly than bury it behind a pop-up that nobody reads.
When you unlock an Earn Spot, your device checks whether it is inside that venue’s area and tells us the answer. That check happens at the moment you make it and is not kept as a history of your movements. No cookie is involved, and nothing about where you have been is stored on your device by us. The detail of what is and is not recorded is in our privacy notice.
Claiming a spot sends you to Stripe to pay. That is a redirect to Stripe’s own checkout page — we do not embed Stripe’s scripts here, so nothing of Stripe’s is placed on your device by this site. Once you are on Stripe’s pages, their privacy policy applies and they will use cookies as any payment provider must. We never see your card details.
There are exactly two things, and neither is used to track you:
An analytics preference. If you opt out of visit counting, we remember that choice in your browser’s local storage so we do not have to ask again. It holds nothing but your preference, and it exists only if you make one.
An administrator sign-in token. Our own admin pages keep a token in sessionStorage so staff are not asked for it on every screen. It applies only to us, and your browser discards it when the tab closes. Visitors and vendors never receive it.
You can opt out of visit counting at any time and the site will work exactly as before — nothing here depends on being measured. Your browser settings also remain entirely yours: block or clear cookies and local storage whenever you like, and use whatever privacy tools or ad blockers you prefer. None of it will stop this site working, because none of it is load-bearing.
